Practice Description:
Nancy Israel counsels clients on a variety of domestic and international business matters from start up through expansion and exit, including international transactions, business planning, entity formation, licensing and distribution arangements, employment agreements and intellectual property protection. Nancy also serves as outside general counsel to small and midsized businesses.
Nancy's practice has an emphasis on advising insurers and reinsurers on their worldwide professional liability programs for professional services firms. Representative services include acting as claims counsel, assessment of portfolio risks, coverage analysis, drafting of insurance and reinsurance policies, and analysis of worldwide liability trends and of risk management practices.
Nancy has substantial experience with commercial, mutual and captive insurers and reinsurers and with analyzing foreign, as well as domestic, risks.
Prior Experience:
Nancy's former associations include: Hill & Barlow (Of Counsel and Chair of the International Law Practice Group) (1995-1998); Associate General Counsel-International of Ernst & Young (1985-1994); Office of the General Counsel of Harvard University (1983-1985); and Hale and Dorr (associate) (1980-1983).
Professional & Other Activities: Nancy's other activities have included: Vice President and Elected Director, Harvard Alumni Association; Board of Directors, International Institute of Boston; President and Member of the Board of Directors, After School Program at John Ward Elementary School; Co-Chair and Member of John Ward Elementary School Council; and Member, The Boston Club. Nancy served several terms in the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association and on the Board of Delegates of the Massachusetts Bar Association, was a member of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court IOLTA Committee and otherwise has been active in civic and professional activities.
